ABSTRACT
|
Introduction:
The paradental cyst is an inflammatory odontogenic cyst usually associated with distal and buccal aspect of partially impacted mandibular third molars. An associated history of pericoronitis, as a consequence of an inflammatory process in the periodontal pocket has been suggested as the route of inflammation. The pathogenesis of these cysts is most likely to be originated from the inflammatory proliferation of epithelial rests of Malassez. This cyst has been under reported due to the lack of sufficient clinical information to establish the diagnosis and many may have been misdiagnosed as dentigerous cysts, pericoronitis, lateral radicular cysts or inflamed dental follicles. Keywords: Epithelial rests, Odontogenic, Paradental cyst, Pericoronitis |
